I’m trying to figure out how to use the layout manager and I’m struggling. Do you have any documentation on how to use it. Ultimately what I am trying to achieve is a layout like this:
An alert box (full width of main page) which will be a custom option
Logo (on the left side)
Search Box (on the right side)
Another alert box (full width of main page) which will be a custom option
Main Navigation Menu (full width of main page)
Front Page Main Content
Image slider (full width of main page)
Left Sidebar with custom sidebar
Right Sidebar with custom sidebar
4 Columns each containing its own widget area (custom sidebar) these will be the same through the site
Copyright information (full width of main page)
I hope that makes sense.

We’ve started on the Layout Manager documentation several times. There is a very good outline and introduction completed, but we’ve never been able to get it completed. I’m hoping that with this theme we’re doing now the documentation can include the Layout Manager to finally get that one out there.
Have you created any custom fields for the Header and Footer sections? Once you enable those areas you can add custom inputs just like they are added in the Options Builder for admin pages. The access to the data is also the same, only using the alternate function for the layout manager fields. See this post for details: http://runwaywp.com/support/topic/headers-and-footers-runway-vs-wordpress/#post-3556
The basic reference to get the data would be:
$header_data = get_layout_options('header'); $header_logo = $header_data['header-logo']; // replace 'header-logo' with the alias of your field
Here’s another post about some more advanced use of the layout manager: http://runwaywp.com/support/topic/layout-manager-select-content/#post-2364
Let me know specifically where you are having trouble in the process and I can go into details. I’m going to check on that document for the Layout Manager now and see how far we got with it. It might be something I can finish this weekend if I have some free time.May 28, 2015 at 7:13 am #4585
Just adding my voice here. I would like to see some documentation please. It’s a bit remiss to charge someone $25 for a product which is still incomplete in terms of instructions or a demo.
